For Technological Leadership: HSE Launches Digital Repository of Socio-Economic Information

© HSE University

HSE University has launched a unique digital Repository of Socio-Economic Information, replacing the outdated platform for the unified archive of economic and sociological data. The update includes not only a refreshed interface and enhanced functionality but also a reimagined concept for the platform itself.

The repository is intended to become a flagship resource—a showcase for the outcomes of HSE University's socio-economic and humanities research.

All university staff can upload the results of their research via their personal account to the repository, which requires authentication using their login and password. Materials are published following pre-moderation by subject experts and are governed by the Regulations on the Depositing and Access to the Results of Fundamental and Applied Research in the Socio-Economic and Humanities Fields at HSE University (see in Russian).

The platform is unique for its multilingual interface, advanced search system, multi-level access to materials, and automatic transformation of sociological survey codebooks into interactive dashboards with infographics.

Future development plans for the platform include expanding its functionality—introducing international metadata input standards, enriching the repository with curated datasets for use in socio-humanitarian research, enhancing the search engine’s capabilities, developing a role-based access model, and enabling external contributors to publish their own materials.

Instructions for depositing materials will be made available on the website of the Centre for Transfer and Management of Socio-Economic Information—the coordinating body for the repository—as well as in a dedicated section of the platform itself.

Vera Vishnyakova

Director of the HSE Centre for Transfer and Management of Socio-Economic Information

‘Under sanctions-related restrictions and the disconnection from leading global scientific information hubs, the HSE Repository of Socio-Economic Information is becoming a key domestic infrastructure solution for knowledge exchange with international partners and the accumulation of unique socio-economic and humanities research data.’
