'Russia May Open its Own Econometrics School'
On September 20, the three-day international conference ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications’ came to an end at HSE’s Nizhny Novgorod campus. The conference was organized by the Higher School of Economics and the New Economic School (NES). Academics from Canada, France, Great Britain, and other countries discussed cutting-edge research in the field of theoretical and applied econometrics, in particular stochastic economic processes.

HSE roundtable at the Istanbul UN Internet Governance Forum 2014
This year at the annual UN Internet Governance Forum, IGF in Istanbul, besides the HSE professors and usual dignitaries, Alexandra Permyakova, a Master’s student on the Electronic Business programme at the Faculty of Business Informatics got the chance to go along and take part in the Forum. A HSE Institute of Education seminar on September 16, saw the launch of the Russian-language book Mass higher education – BRIC triumph? by HSE publishing house (the English original, University Expansion in a Changing Global Economy, Triumph of the BRICs? was published last year by Stanford University Press). Attendees discussed development trends in higher education.

HSE Nizhny Novgorod to Become Centre for Dialogue between France and Russia
The Russian-French Seasons festival is opening in Nizhny Novgorod, and HSE Nizhny Novgorod is one of the event’s organizers. On September 11, the Russian news agency Interfax held a press conference that saw the participation of the individuals behind the idea for the festival: Valery Zusman, Director of HSE Nizhny Novgorod; Gennady Ryabov, Honorary Consul of the French Republic in Nizhny Novgorod; and Sophie Gindt, Director of the Alliance Française cultural centre in Nizhny Novgorod.

On September 17, 2014, the annual conference held by the European Association for International Education (EAIE) opened in Prague, Czech Republic. EAIE is the leading European association devoted to promoting the internationalization of higher education across Europe and around the world.
